Today, we go deeper in the essence of Provence: This morning, we start with Arles, the city which has one of the best-preserved arenas of Ancient Rome. Our visit is followed by the Carrière des Lumières; This former giant quarry is now a magical site, Imagine yourself inside the colorful paintings of famous artists, which are projected all around you, and orchestrated to move in music, so you feel as though you suddenly become one with their art. All your senses are ignited. It’s an extraordinary sensation! When you exit this beautiful ethereal dream, a 5 min walk, takes you to the perched village of Les Baux de Provence. You are now surrounded by massive blocks of stone, and the gorgeous shades of green of the olive groves. That’s where we enjoy our free time for lunch surrounded by the most incredible view. The small boutiques sell local products including lavender, lavender soaps, and the famous santons-the little figurines of Provence made of clay and dressed in traditional costumes. Here, one can also buy the colorful Provençal fabric at a very good price. After lunch, we learn about olive oil making in the family business of Moulin de Castelas. We then head towards the most impressive meridional monument, the Pont du Gard for a dizzying leap of 2000 years in time. There, it’s free time for a nice swim in the river Gard. Our evening is in Avignon.
